Ep #183 Growing Up Black In White Interview With Kevin Hofmann Speaker, Author, And Trainer

I got to interview Kevin Hofmann.

By the time he turned 2 years old  Kevin  had survived an abortion,  been given away by his mother, adopted by a family of another race and woke up to a burning cross in his front yard. Kevin was born in Detroit in August 1967 two weeks after the riots that changed that city forever.  It was out of these amazing circumstances his life began. It is out of these experiences he tells his story; a story of struggle and joy,  pain and passion, and most of all hope.

We spoke about:

  • 1:31 Born as a result of an affair of his white mother and black father during the Detroit riots in the 60s.
  • 2:20 Being adopted by a white minister.
  • 3:57 A story of identity and race.
  • 8:26 Things that stick with adoptees that simply don't wash off.
  • 14:11 No one is a bigger expert of your experience than you.
  • And much more!
